Culture matters. Power matters. Economics matter.
Yes, representation matters, but not that much. Culture matters. Power matters. Economics matter. Seeing the first Black such and such or Black characters in movies is a poor substitute for having those things be the norm rather than the exception.
Do you see Asians caring about electing an Asian US president? No. Because making sure you have a strong community where you educated your own and employ your own and live around each other and help each other matters more than all that.
